Dr. Bright Vandyke Okyere is an optometrist and a lecturer at the optometry department at Mzuzu University, Malawi. He had his training at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana where he graduated with degrees in Bachelor of Science in Ophthalmic Science and a Doctor of Optometry.

He is also a Peter Auckland Scholar with a Certificate in International Eye Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in collaboration with Peek Vision Foundation. He is an active member of the Ghana Optometric Association (GOA), Leader of Visual Health Consults (VHC) which is an ophthalmic start-up in Ghana and the founder of Rural Eye Care Project (RECaP), a sustainable social enterprise in Ghana.

He worked with a number of hospitals in Ghana as a clinical optometrist before his appointment as a lecturer at Mzuzu University. Dr. Vandyke sees training of future optometrists as one of the significant ways to contribute to eliminating visual impairment and blindness in the world. Dr. Vandyke has interests in sustainable eye care, vision therapy and clinical optometry

I had my doctor of optometry degree (OD) in 1999 and have lectured for nine years in the department of Optometry, Abia State University, my alma mater. I joined the Department of optometry Mzuzu University as a faculty member in May 2013. I am happy to be here in Mzuzu University to contribute to the growth of this noble profession in Southern Africa. I have interests in contact lenses, clinic management and jurisprudence, Pharmacology and research.
