Library and Learning Resource Centre

The University has a modern Library, integrating print and electronic information resources like CD-Rom databases and a wide range of multi-media formats. The collection is arranged by Library of Congress Classification Scheme and there is an Online Publication Access Catalogue (OPAC).

There are separate sections of Malawi Collection and Reference Collection. The Library is also a depository of International Monetary Fund (IMF) collection, and a wide range of World Bank publications, United National Development Programme (UNDP) publications and special collection of material on HIV/AIDS.

The Library currently coordinates Information Technology development and is responsible for computing services support in the University, including training of students and staff, internet access skills, maintenance and troubleshooting.

There is also a children's Library, as an annex to the main Library, catering for school children in and around Mzuzu University. This is a unique facility in any University setting and is benefiting children who otherwise have no access to Library facilities and already signs of a reading culture in the children are becoming evident.

The Library is a major and comprehensive information resource in this part of the country and is managed as a compliment of well trained human resource.

The principal objective of the Library and Learning Resources Centre (LLRC) is to support teaching, learning and research activities in the university. The Library is the heart or hub of the university. The saying goes that the quality of a university is judged by its library.

The LLRC aims to satisfy the information needs of the students, faculty members, and other researchers.

The mission of the Library and Learning Resources Centre is:-

To provide up-to-date and relevant information resources; promote the effective utilization of those resources; and facilitate rapid access to information held within and in remote places through conventional and electronic means.
