Atupele A Malema

Academic Qualifications:
Atupele A. Malema is a Staff Associate in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. She coordinates Level I students in the department. She obtained her BSc in Nursing and University Certificate in Midwifery from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2009 and 2011 respectively. She has worked with Malawi Government under the Ministry of Health and St. John of God before joining the University.
Atupele teaches Basic Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Gynecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing.
Research interest:
- Oncology (cervical cancer).
Lucky Mhango

Academic Qualifications:
Lucky Mhango is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. He has a Master of Science in Nursing degree obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa (2001); a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (1994), Diploma in Nursing (1988) and University Certificate in Midwifery (1989) obtained from the University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing. He also has a Certificate in Operating Theatre Nursing and Intensive Care obtained from Okayama University Hospital (1992, Japan). Currently, he is reading for a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Inter-professional Collaboration in Health-care Leadership with the University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing. He has worked in the Ministry of Health and Kamuzu College of Nursing before joining Mzuzu University in the year 2006.
Mr Mhango is involved in teaching Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical and Surgical Nursing, STIs, HIV and AIDS as well as Principles and Practice of Education.

Fatch W. Kalembo

Thokozani Bvumbwe

Academic Qualifications:

- Master of Science in Community Health Nursing
Thokozani Bvumbwe is a Lecturer in the Nursing and Midwifery Department. He is also Deputy Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2000. He then pursued a Master of Science in Community Health Nursing (2003) and a Diploma in Mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing (2002) from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban. He is currently a NEPI PhD Scholar at the same University. He has worked for St. John of God and Management Sciences for Health/ BASICS (2009) before joining the university.
Thokozani teaches Community Health Nursing, Health Services Management, Mental Health and Research methods.

Nathaniel W.B.Chimbatata

Academic Qualifications:

- Diploma in Ophthalmology-Obtained from MCHS-2005
Biography:
Nathaniel Chimbatata is a nurse with over twelve years experience in the nursing and Medical profession. His area of specialty and interest is preventive care medicine. Since graduation, his professional experience has ranged from professional delivery of medical paediatric nursing care, research in preventive medicine and education (thus teaching at an Institution of higher learning).
Upon completion of his Master of Science degree in Epidemiology, he joined Mzuzu University as a Lecturer in community and public health nursing. Before, he worked for Ministry of Health and Johns Hopkins Research Project. His current work involves delivery of lectures, administering and marking of examinations. He over sees the conduct and delivery of examinations in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. He is also involved in undergraduate research supervision and on average supervises six students’ research projects per academic year.
Research Interests:
He is greatly interested in preventive care/public health research and would like to further his expertise and do doctoral study in public health. His focus is on primary health care especially in the following areas;
- Child morbidity and mortality
- Communicable and Non Communicable Diseases (this is a neglected area in our setting),
- Reproductive Health (Prevalence of Harmful Traditional Reproductive Health practices)
Griphin Baxter Chirambo

Griphin Baxter Chirambois a lecturer in the department. He also coordinates clinical activities in the department. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2001. He then got a Post Graduate Diploma in mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing in 2004 and then a Master of Science in Mental Health Nursing in 2005 from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Republic of South Africa.
Currently he is reading towards a PhD in Clinical Studies with funding from UCC Support LIFE project. He worked at St. John of God Community Services before joining the University.
Griphin teaches mental health nursing, psychology for health, Counseling and Research.
Brittney Sullivan

Academic Qualifications:
Brittney Sullivan is a Lecturer of Pediatrics in the Nursing and Midwifery Department at Mzuzu University. Ms. Sullivan attended Boston College (Boston, MA, USA) for both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She specialized in pediatric nursing and is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. In the United States, she worked mostly in adolescent medicine, primary care pediatrics, and rehabilitation medicine. Her global health experience includes work in South Africa, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. She will start her PhD program at Duke University in North Carolina when she returns to the USA to study global pediatric nursing.

Mep Coretta Chipeta

Academic Qualifications:
Mep Coretta Chipeta is an assistant lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery Department. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and University Certificate in Midwifery from Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2005 and 2007 respectively. She is currently pursuing her MSc in Nursing Education from the same institution. Has worked for Ministry of Health in Intensive care wards before joining Mzuzu University. Mep is involved in both classroom and clinical teaching in fundamentals of nursing, Medical and Surgical Nursing, Gynaecology Nursing, Bioethics and professionalism and Midwifery.
