Quality assurance and enhancement are key priority activities of Mzuzu University. The Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement fits very well within the Strategic plan 2020 – 2030 ensuring that the core business of the University which is teaching and learning is done with the expected standards.

With leadership from the Directorate, all staff and students shall work together towards excellence that satisfies both our internal aspirations and external expectations including that of the National Council for Higher Education and the Ministry of Education.

Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Thokozani Bvumbwe, the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement is committed to fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. With his vision to turn commitments into actionable results, the directorate continues to uphold and advance the highest standards in education, research, and institutional development.

To promote confidence in the quality and standards of teaching, learning, research and complementary services of Mzuzu University and to assure itself and stakeholders that the quality and standards of its awards are well managed.

We aspire to be a premier provider of tertiary education in Malawi by offering high-quality teaching, training, research, and complementary services.

Regional and International Programme accreditation

Mzuzu University having successfully accredited all its programmes with the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE), has embarked on a regional accreditation journey. Programme reviews have been completed. A Regional Accreditation Task Team just completed a self-assessment assignment. We anticipate to submit five programme for accreditation with the Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) by end of January, 2025. The programmes are Master of Science in Applied Chemistry, Master of Science in Transformative Community Development, Master of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Science, Doctor of Philosophy in Transformative Community Development and Doctor of Philosophy in Fisheries and Aquatic Science.
