Mzuzu University wishes to clarify allegations circulating on social media regarding claims that 500 students will not graduate during the 28th University Congregation due to missing grades.

Based on verified academic records and established academic regulations, the University confirms that the actual number of students with incomplete academic records is 262, not 500. These cases are a result of outstanding academic assessments, including repeat courses and supplementary examinations, and not missing grades, system failures, or administrative errors.

Mzuzu University remains committed to upholding academic integrity through robust quality assurance systems and a home-grown automated grade management system that ensures proper academic progression and completion. Further details and a full breakdown of the affected categories are provided in the official press release dated 8th January 2026
