Mzuzu University has issued an official statement in response to allegations of academic fraud circulating on social media. The University clarifies that it operates a robust and secure Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) with inbuilt security features that detected and reversed irregular changes affecting a limited number of student portals in September 2025.

The matter was immediately reported to the Institutional Integrity Committee, with investigations currently ongoing in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the University Legal Counsel. Affected students and staff have been informed, and appropriate administrative actions have been taken in line with the principles of transparency, accountability, and natural justice.

Mzuzu University reaffirms its commitment to academic integrity and assures students, alumni, and the public that no fake academic awards have been conferred. The University will share key findings upon conclusion of the investigations, expected by the end of February 2026.
