Denis Mwanyanja Mwiba

Mr. Denis Mwanyanja Mwiba is a Lecturer in the Department of History and Heritage Studies, where he primarily teaches courses in Early African History, the History of Southern Africa, the Ancient World, and Modern European and American History. His academic interests lie in the fields of African social and medical history, with particular emphasis on the histories of medicine and disease, marginalisation and otherness, as well as transport and mobility within the African historical context. Mr. Mwiba holds a Master of Arts Degree in African Social History from the University of Malawi (2012). His MA research focused on Malaria Outbreaks in Colonial Lower Shire Valley, exploring the intersections of colonial governance, environment, and public health policies in Malawi. His scholarly publications have particularly focused on disease, medicine, transport and social exclusion in Malawi. Mr. Mwiba is currently completing his doctoral studies at the University of Zambia and is expected to graduate in May 2026.
