Readers services section
Readers Services Section is the main service unit of the Library. Readers Section has four main service points. These are Long Loan Counter, Short Loan Counter, Reference Desk and Security counter
Handles registration of new users and lending out of information resources for a period of more than a day.
Holds key course materials that are in great demand. Responsible for lending out materials for a shorter period of time.
Attends to users reference queries, these include but not limited to books and electronic resources guides, and any information needs.
Responsible for security of staff, users and information resources. Enforces security policy and advice on security matters
More library sections
This Section keeps in stock information resources written by Malawians and about Malawi. These include theses and desertations, books, News papers and Magazines. Rare materials which the Library acquires are also kept in this Section. The section is headed by the Malawiana/Special Collections Librarian.
Responsible for all Library Information Technology innovations and systems support.Provides; Internet Services, PC, Network troubleshooting and systems development, Information Technology based training facilitation to both students and staff and during workshops. The Electronic library lab is also run by the IT section personnel.
Serials Section is responsible for the acquisition, marketing and training users on periodical publications. These include journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. The section is Headed by the Periodicals Librarian.
TECHNICAL SERVICES SECTION
Responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing and classification of mainly print resources acquired by the Library.
CHILDREN’S LIBRARY
Children’s Library is responsible for handling the information needs of children in and around Mzuzu City. The Section is headed by the Children’s and Outreach Services Librarian
AMERICAN CORNER
This is yet another section that helps the Library in fulfilling its outreach objectives with the community. The section has a small library comprised of computers and print information resources mainly on America. It, among others, advises patrons on the education opportunities available in America. and holds other activities celebrating the American culture.
